Imagine being done with Corporate America. Imagine living on a remote and peaceful lake almost in the middle of nowhere and you don't give one hoot what people think about you or what you do with your time. Now, imagine you are walking back to your cabin at night, and you hear footsteps behind you... oh, sorry. I can't help myself.
Ever since I can remember, I’ve loved scary stories.
I remember my parents expressing some concern about my fascination with werewolves and ghosts ...and this was in middle school! While other kids were decorating their paper bag book covers with drawings of motorcycles and kittens (and, later, marijuana leaves), I was drawing the eyes from the cover of The Wolfen - my then favorite book. It was written by Whitely Strieber and first published in 1978. I have no idea how I got my hands on it because my Mom certainly didn’t it buy it for me. But I loved it and my new found fear of taking showers and walking outside at night. I was hooked.
Now I live in a beautiful location on a quiet lake. I fish, hike, bike, run and paddle with people I love. What they don’t know is that – while they are thinking about normal things - I am wondering how I’d escape if I fell into a pit and had no way to call for help...and it was a full moon.
Then, I come home and write about it.
